£10,000 Business Grant

The government has announced: small businesses that already pay little or no business rate will be eligible for a one-off Coronavirus grant worth up to £3,000. On the 17th of March this was increased to £10,000.

Eligibility:

Access: You do not need to do anything. Your local authority will write to you if you are eligible for this grant.

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy will be writing to local authorities this week to outline the scheme and encourage local authorities to prepare. However, once up-and-running, your local authority will contact you rather than having to apply yourself. And funding will not be available until April, as stated on the government website.

This will be applicable to 700,000 small businesses and represents a cash injection of £2bn.

Small Business Rate Relief (SBBR)

All retail, leisure and hospitality companies will be exempt from business rates for the 2020 and 2021 tax year.
